Precision fabrication from our 7,000m² Pooraka workshop.
Built in Adelaide. Built to last.
Our 7,000m² fabrication and assembly facility in Pooraka, South Australia, is where the majority of D&S Resources’ structural and mechanical project work takes shape — before a single component reaches site. With 2,500m² of undercover workspace, two gantry cranes, precision machining capability and a full complement of specialist trades, our workshop is equipped to handle fabrication scopes of any scale and complexity.
From structural steelwork and pressure vessels to pipe spools, custom industrial components and specialised exotic metals work, our certified welders and fabricators deliver to the highest quality standards — backed by our ISO 9001-certified quality management system and full weld traceability from material receipt to final inspection.
Precision welding and fabrication — from structural steelwork to exotic metals, delivered to specification.

Fabrication under one roof
D&S Resources’ Pooraka workshop brings structural, mechanical and piping fabrication together under one roof — from everyday structural steelwork through to coded pressure welding and exotic metals most fabricators can’t touch. Whatever the material or specification, our certified trades fabricate to Australian standards with full traceability, so what leaves our workshop is ready to install, not rework.
Full Service Capabilities
Our fabrication & welding capability
Structural steelwork fabrication
We fabricate structural steel components for mining, industrial and civil construction projects — from beams, columns and trusses through to platforms, walkways, handrails and custom structural assemblies. All structural fabrication is completed to Australian standards with full inspection and documentation.
- Structural steel beams, columns, trusses and frames
- Platforms, walkways, stairs and handrail systems
- Skid-mounted equipment structures and modular frames
- Platework and custom structural assemblies
- Surface preparation and primer coating prior to site delivery
Welding – processes & materials
Our certified welding team works across all major welding processes and a broad range of materials — including some that require specialist qualification and experience that most fabricators don’t carry.
- MIG (GMAW) — structural and general fabrication welding
- TIG (GTAW) — precision welding for stainless steel, alloys and high-integrity applications
- Stick (SMAW / ARC) — site welding and heavy structural applications
- Flux-core (FCAW) — high-deposition structural welding
Materials we work with regularly:
- Carbon steel and mild steel
- Stainless steel (304, 316, duplex grades)
- Aluminium
- HDPE and poly (fusion welding)
Coded & X-ray welding
D&S Resources carries coded welding qualifications across MIG, TIG and ARC processes — enabling us to fabricate pressure-retaining components and high-integrity weldments that require independent inspection and certification. Our coded welding capability covers:
- Pressure vessel and pressure piping fabrication to AS/NZS standards
- X-ray (radiographic) weld inspection coordination
- Weld procedure specifications (WPS) and procedure qualification records (PQR)
- Welder qualification records (WQR) maintained and current
- Full weld traceability documentation and turnover packages
Pipe spooling & coil fabrication
Our spool fabrication capability allows piping systems to be pre-fabricated in the controlled environment of our Pooraka workshop, reducing site installation time, improving quality and minimising exposure to the risks of in-field fabrication.
- Pipe spool fabrication across all material types
- Coil fabrication for process and utility applications
- HDPE and poly pipe fabrication and jointing
- Fit-up, tack and full-weld spool assembly
- Hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure testing prior to despatch
- Full as-built documentation and spool tracking
Pressure vessels & tanks
D&S Resources fabricates custom pressure vessels, storage tanks and industrial vessels to client specifications and relevant Australian standards. Our vessel fabrication work includes:
- Storage tanks across a range of materials and capacities
- Self-bunded tanks for hazardous liquid storage
- Pressure vessels to AS1210 and related standards
- Hoppers, silos and bins
- Custom process vessels and separators
Custom & volume fabrication
Our workshop handles both one-off custom fabrication and high-volume production runs — with the equipment, trades and quality systems to maintain consistency across large-quantity orders.
- Custom component fabrication to drawing or sample
- Volume fabrication and repetition work
- Cutting, drilling, punching, pressing and deburring
- Complete assemblies including mechanical fit-out
- Material sourcing and procurement as part of fabrication scope
Assembly, finishing & dispatch
Fabrication at D&S doesn’t stop at the weld. We complete full assembly, surface preparation and finishing in-house, with painting and powder coating available through trusted finishing partners.
- Mechanical and structural assembly
- Surface preparation (abrasive blasting, grinding)
- Primer and protective coating application
- Painting and powder coating through finishing partners
- Pre-delivery inspection, documentation and packing
- Logistics coordination for delivery to site or port
