D&S Resources completed the fabrication and construction of a 130,000L self-bunded tank engineered for safe storage of 98% sulfuric acid — designed to Australian standards with full secondary containment, and delivered with complete engineering documentation including General Arrangement and Fabrication drawings, Finite Element Analysis, Ground Bearing Pressure Analysis, and lifting engineering.
Key aspects of the engineering and fabrication included:
- General Arrangement Drawings
- Detailed Fabrication Drawings
- Finite Element Analysis
- Ground Bearing Pressure Analysis
- Lifting Lug Engineering and Basic Lift Plan
The tank featured secondary containment to provide an additional safety layer in the event of a failure.
The fabrication process included:
- Fabrication and assembly of the tank
- Holding brackets mounted on top of the tank for cable tray installation
- Earthing lugs and lifting lugs
- Fabrication and assembly of an access ladder and platform
- External tank finish in white
- Galvanization of the access ladder and platform, painted yellow
- Pressure testing of the vessel
Skills/services demonstrated
- Engineering-led fabrication — General Arrangement and detailed fabrication drawings, FEA, ground bearing pressure analysis, and lifting engineering all produced in-house ahead of fabrication
- Hazardous materials containment expertise — design and build to Australian standards for 98% sulfuric acid storage
- Self-bunded / secondary containment design — an added safety layer engineered directly into the tank, not a bolt-on afterthought
- Full fabrication and assembly capability — tank shell, holding brackets, earthing and lifting lugs, and integrated cable tray support
- Access infrastructure fabrication — ladder and platform fabricated, galvanised and finished for safe operational access
- Surface treatment and finishing — external tank painted white, access structure galvanised and painted yellow to a defined finish standard
- Pressure testing — vessel tested to confirm integrity before handover
- Lift planning — basic lift plan developed alongside lifting lug engineering, addressing safe transport and installation from the outset
