The Loss of Power Risk Remediation Project required the installation of two new 132/11kV transformers at Olympic Dam North 132kV Switchyard to replace two transformers (TF0001 and TF0002) that are end-of-life (32 years old). The investment also included the purchase of a spare 132/11kV transformer that can be used for any of the eight existing 132/11kV transformers onsite.

The Loss of Power Risk Remediation (LoPRR) project was critical to support ongoing plant operations at Olympic Dam and provision of power to Roxby Downs township.

The Loss of Power Risk Remediation Project proposed to install two new 132/11kV transformers at Olympic Dam North 132kV Switchyard to replace two transformers (TF0001 and TF0002) that were end of life (32 years old). The investment also included the purchase of a spare 132/11kV transformer that could be used for any of the eight existing 132/11kV transformers onsite.

In addition to the above transformers and cold spare, other civil infrastructure that was to be installed/upgraded included:

  • Bench extensions and associated drainage
  • Fencing and gates
  • Earthing
  • Conduit and cable trenches
  • Other equipment footings including:
    • Disconnectors
    • Circuit breakers
    • Current transformers
    • BUS supports

Scope of Work

The responsibilities and obligations of D&S Resources included:

  • Project management of civil works.
  • Weekly program/project meetings.
  • Daily site management/Safety meetings.
  • Provide methodologies for works provided.
  • Safety Management Plan (WHSMP).
  • Quality Assurance of works and records.
  • Mobilisation, security and demobilisation of P&E.
  • Bulk Earthworks, Drainage and Access Roads.
  • Excavation / Trenching/Backfilling.
  • Concrete and Foundation Works.
