NODE CHARGING CABINETS

D&S researched and developed cabinets to house charging stations for personal nodes worn by BHP personnel. The nodes were designed for tracking and proximity detection for the harsh mining environment. The project entailed manufacturing cabinets to design specifications and electrical installation of power outlets to comply with site standards.

DETAILS

To work with BHP’s technology department to design and construct a racking display system which mounts the charging stations for the personal nodes. This needed to provide the ability for BHP personnel to retrieve their personal node at the start of every shift and return it after completion of their shift, with clear visibility and ease of access. This required the cabinets to be sturdy in order to endure the physical nature of everyday use, as well as its own RCD circuit to have power hardwired into it.

The project included:

  • Design and drafting
  • Fabricating prototype to test site use
  • Modifications were requested and implemented
  • Delivering 14 new charging cabinets
  • Palatalise and package to eliminate risk of damage during transit
  • Providing all documentation with certificates of conformity
